Welcome to the new site (again)

New me, new personal site. Thoughts about what prompted the rebuild, my use of AI writing and promises of what's to come.

I’ve lost count when it comes to what version of my personal site this is. I moved from WordPress to Ghost a couple years ago because every version that I built on WordPress I just got endlessly lost in customizing (because I could) and never actually put any content up on it.

Now that I’m not in the WordPress world professionally anymore, and especially because of the rise of AI coding agents (thanks Claude Code), I was looking for a version of my site that I could easily manipulate with AI.

The site itself, the maintenance tasks and a few other things all happened thanks to Claude Code, but every word here on the blog is still written by me, and me alone. There are lots of cases where using a tool like Claude for writing is very helpful! For example, I have a whole writing flow on claudecodeformarketers.com that lets me post consistently and with what I think is very high quality.

However, in my opinion, writing on my personal blog should be…personal. Anything that’s published here is an opinion of mine that I want to express as me. And however you feel about all the AI tooling that’s popping up, I think it differs from technology of the past in that it transforms your thoughts and thinking in a way that wouldn’t have happened if you had tried to put them “down on paper” directly.

For research-heavy tasks, brainstorming and those kinds of things, this is a good thing, because it expands the possibility space. But for personal opinions and the kinds of things I want to put more of out into the world, that workflow isn’t one that I’ll be adopting. I use AI as a thinking parter quite a bit to explore new ideas, but by the time I put them down I want that to be a reflection of my actual thoughts.

You may have been able to tell that this is hand-written by how rambly that section got, but alas. I encourage you to poke around the site a bit and check out some of the new sections. I’m pretty excited about how the design turned out and how the various pages came together!

I’m particularly excited about the /now page and the graveyard, which are both brand new for me! You’ll find my contact info around the site, places where you can follow me down below in the footer and please don’t be shy about reaching out if there’s something I can help with, a question I can answer, or if you just want to say hi!

More ramblings and musings are coming!

Talk soon,

Keanan
